This incredible piece of history is SO rare in it's condition... only the chimney pipe has been removed. Salvaged from the 1900-built Avon Elementary gymnasium barn, it's been sitting, protected, since the school closed, in the last standing structure from the school.
Now it needs to find a new home, as a foundation failure in the SE corner of the gym has caused a heavy lean to the east, and we are deconstructing it to salvage the materials. A copy of the 1930-published brochure illustrates a line of wood-burning furnaces that were designed just for rural schoolrooms... and can be seen at https://archive.org/details/WatermanWayterburyCo./mode/2up.
We are asking $1900 obo, for the complete furnace and casing. Local pickup only, or freight can be arranged for a fee. It weighs about 500 lbs (possibly a little more), so it likely requires special handling equipment.
