The ship lap was milled locally (circular saw marks are visible on most pieces) from old-growth Douglas Fir trees sourced in the near vicinity. It has been kept safe from the elements for dozens and dozens of years, and protected with large, 100 lb size burlap feed sacks laid carefully over the floor's surface when stacking hay on it. These amazing boards/ planks feature a gorgeous, semi- knotty look with slightly wavy/ dancing, strong vertical grain. Once washed, the color ranges from a light sandy gold to bright, vibrant red-oranges.
Beautiful, weathered patinas are found on each and every perfectly preserved 1"x8" board, the kind only found on Old-Growth Douglas Fir from Pacific NW barns. The ship lap planks mostly retain a genuine amber tone, but range a little more on the rich brown side in certain cases. They are not brittle, splintered, nor is their structural integrity compromised in any way! .
Boards will be cleaned by soft pressure washing so you can truly see the boards' colors come through!
These boards would make an amazing (and easy!) accent wall, or would look great as wainscoting, as an accent ceiling, as a barn door, or even reused for the same original purpose as in the lofts of the barn: FLOORING!
NOTE: Reclaimed wood flooring is THE ONLY type of real wood floor that CAN BE installed over radiant heating systems, without warping, shrinkage or worse, thanks to its tried and true endurance, and it's ability to expand and contract with the heat. So before you fork out THOUSANDS upon thousands of dollars for new or faux "RUSTIC"- finished shiplap for your walls, floor, ceiling or anything else, then this is your lucky day, because the real thing is sure to provide you with much more satisfaction!

A LITTLE ABOUT RECLAIMED WOOD, AND WHY IT'S ALWAYS THE BEST CHOICE!
Old-growth trees were typically larger and stronger, as they took decades, even centuries to grow and mature. Old-growth wood has greater density, is significantly heavier, and is more structurally stable than newly-harvested wood, which are desirable traits for specific “high-traffic” uses such as hardwood flooring. We are proud to provide a new life to these old-growth trees by offering a wide selection of reclaimed barn boards, dimensional lumber & timbers for all of your remodeling, restoring, building, and design needs!
Reclaimed antique barn wood is incomparable in terms of its ageless beauty and charm; these boards are truly unparalleled in each one's distinct quality and character. Our Pacific NW Reclaimed boards, lumber and materials all have beautiful, genuine rustic textures, traditional elegance and impressive durability.
As with ALL reclaimed barn wood products, many of the old historical “character marks” remain visible, as if proudly displaying ones' "war wounds", promising that our hand-deconstructed, cleaned, and inspected reclaimed materials are guaranteed to bring warmth, charm and an uncommon sense of style to any commercial or residential new build and/or remodeling project.
These historical character marks, which include nail holes, saw marks, mortises, notches, bolt holes and rich patinas, communicate the authenticity and history of the wood’s former life.
Using reclaimed wood offers beauty and defining character that simply cannot be found in newly-milled lumber, and can never be duplicated.
